Merry Christmas!

Christmas is quickly approaching and the world seems to have transformed into the usual insanity that accompanies this time of year.  While racing around to various gigs and getting our shit together for the upcoming year we thought we’d take a look back over 2011 and give you all a glimpse of what’s to come for Heaviside in 2012…

2011 was a year of great success for Heaviside.  We released our first single, “Queen for a Day” to radio stations across Canada in April and debuted on the Canadian Active Rock Charts at #83.  With a single on the radio, we started to receive national attention and have been played on radio stations from the reaches of Vancouver to Ottawa and many in between.  In May we were featured by Alan Cross on his nationally syndicated radio show “Explore Music.”  June saw us receive a spread in Calgary’s music magazine Beatroute.

With the success of “Queen for a Day”, Heaviside performed at a revolving door of venues this past year, often selling out tickets and packing the room full with all of you wonderful rock lovers.  Some unusual and extremely fun gigs included taking over a lucky K97 listener’s back yard and blasting our music across the neighborhood and nearby golf course for K97’s annual “Rock Out with your Cook Out”.  We also paid tribute to the rock god’s the best way we knew how by taking on the persona of Led Zeppelin for a Halloween show, of which videos can still be found at www.heaviside.ca.

There were many other memorable gigs in 2011, but one of the stand outs was performing at The Worlds Longest Hockey Game back in February, raising money and awareness for Pediatric Cancer Research.  We performed outside battling the -28oC temperature and trying not to freeze our fingers to our strings so that we could do our small part in contributing to the $1,124,475.03 raised for Pediatric Cancer Research.  The real hero’s, however, were the 40 players that spent 10 straight days playing hockey to a riveting 2067 – 2005 victory for Team White over Team Blue.

All things considered, 2011 was an awesome year for Heaviside.  And all of this momentum is leading us into 2012 with even bigger goals and aspirations.  We’ve spent a good part of this past year writing new tunes and in February 2012 we will be heading into the studio to lay our hard work down on the next album.  We are very excited to get these new songs recorded and can’t wait to show them off.  Keep an eye on our webpage for updates on this as we move into the new year.

For the moment though, we would like to thank all of you – our dedicated fans – for your love and support over the past year.  And if you’re anything like us and haven’t quite finished your Christmas shopping yet, why not avoid the lineups at the mall and give someone a gift of Heaviside – “Queen for a Day” can be easily picked up online at iTunes.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Keep On Rocking!
