March Newsletter
Hey there Rock Fans,
It would appear that our monthly newsletter has fallen behind, so I would like to take this opportunity to catch you up on what’s been happening with Heaviside so far in 2011. The New Year has been good to us up until now. We have had two excellent shows so far at Brixx Bar & Grill with Frankie McQueen and the Apresnos in January, as well as a sensually good time at Eden’s the Dungeon with One Day Late and Diesel May. We were also invited to take the stage at the World’s Longest (or should we say coldest) Hockey game in February. Heaviside also took part in local musician Cara Albo’s music video “Beg for More”, and played the role of Cara’s backing band. Stay tuned for details on that as it’s definitely worth checking out. So that’s what has been happening with us so far this year.
Before we give you the scoop on Heaviside’s up and coming events we would first like to thank you for your support and votes in the Edmonton Music Awards. Heaviside was nominated in the “Artist to Watch” category for the first ever Edmonton Music Awards and we will find out how we did at the end of the month during an awards ceremony. In addition to that our newly revamped track “Eva” will see its official release on Oddball Productions’ Rockstar 101 compilation and is set to be available for purchase on iTunes March 29, 2011! Also, there is talk of a secret new mystery tune potentially surfacing in the near future, stay tuned to www.heaviside.ca for details… In other news, Kyle will be taking a two week hiatus at the end of March to attend a camp that helps bassists to integrate normally with the rest of society. The camp focuses on social skills, not touching others while they are talking and keeping your private parts private. So we wish Kyle the best during his endeavours there we hope he has lots of fun (but we fear he will come back worse, seriously, that many bassists together only means trouble).
Lastly, we’re gearing up for summer, which means we’re working to get on board with all sorts of festivals and battle of the bands type events. There should be lots of opportunities to see Heaviside do what they do best in the coming months. In addition to that we are also plotting a return to one of our (and your) favourite Heaviside venues. That pretty much covers it for news. We will try and get back to a monthly basis, also I promise to make the next newsletter more funny or interesting or something. It just seems so damned hard while typing this at work for the Canada Revenue Agency; they don’t really nurture a good sense of humour here. Until next time, keep on rocking.
Cheers,
Heaviside
