May Newsletter
Calling all Rock Fans, May is almost over, so you know what that means… It’s about time for Heaviside to get our asses together and put out a May newsletter before we hit June. Well it has been yet another exciting month and we’ve got lots to talk about.
First and foremost, Heaviside has officially released their newly recorded track “Queen for a Day” to Canadian Rock Radio on May 15. Perhaps the most exciting thing about this whole ordeal is not only did our little baby get some airplay on its first day out, but the track also charted. “Queen for a Day” debuted at #83 on the Canadian Active Rock Chart, the very same chart that had Spenny’s heroes the Foo Fighters at number one! In response to this, Heaviside’s track has started receiving airplay on a number of radio stations across Canada. We are extremely proud and excited to have achieved this, and look forward to our second official week on Canadian Rock Radio.
Continuing in that vein, this Friday, May 27 will see Heaviside featured on Alan Cross’ Explore Music radio show as the Daily Discovery. During the show “Queen for a Day” will be available for free download, so if you don’t already have it, here’s you chance to get it for free. For more information on when that airs and how to tune in, check out www.heaviside.ca where the show times and links are posted. The Explore Music show airs on several radio stations across Canada so wherever you are be sure to check it out.
Heaviside is also hitting the stage a few times in the next month. Your first chance to see the band rip up the stage will be on June 2, at Oil City Road House for Boonstock Bandwarz. Heaviside is one of 8 bands selected out of more than 70 applicants. The winner of the competition will be granted the opportunity to perform at the Boonstock Music Festival in July. Heaviside will be giving away 20 free tickets to the show so let us know you want one, details on how to get tickets at www.heaviside.ca or the band’s facebook fan page. Even if you don’t get a free ticket make sure to come out and support local music and give your favourite Edmonton rock band that extra edge.
The band will also be performing on June 24, at Haven Social club with their good friends the Frank and the Apresnos. This is definitely a show you won’t want to miss. We guarantee a ball-shattering performance, all three bands are revved up and ready to go and hey, it’s all rock ‘n’ roll bands here, no folk or metal at this one. If the stars align just right it should prove to be a magical night filled with rock ‘n’ roll ecstasy, and if not, the usual drunken debauchery should ensue. Stay tuned to the website for the up and coming details on that.
Okay, I think that about covers our news for the month of May. Keep your eyes on the website for breaking Heaviside news (as it is a more regular and reliable source for the happenings of the band) and keep your ears tuned to your local rock station, who knows, you may just hear your favourite local rock band polluting the air waves… or that other band you like, Heaviside. Cheers.
