July Newsletter

Hey there rock fans.  I’d like to begin our July newsletter by firstly thanking everyone who has supported us over the last little while.  Those who have come out to the CD release party, those who bought the album, those who have taken to iTunes to purchase our single and those of you who continue to spread the good word of Heaviside, THANK YOU!!!  You have all made the past few weeks a spectacular experience for us.

To cap off the last little while we have been extremely busy supporting the new record and the current single “Lady” which climbed to #60 on the Canadian Active Rock Chart!  We had an outstanding turnout at our CD launch on May 25th at the Pawnshop and played one mother of a hell raiser not soon to be forgotten.  Most recently we just took our road show down to Calgary and showed ‘em how we do it up here in Edmonton.  Honestly, I think I saw some drool on the floor after we rocked Calgary beyond repair, we look forward to going back and giving Cow-Town another good rock ‘n’ roll workout again soon.

For those of you feeling neglected up here in Edmonton, no need to worry, we’ve got lots of summer fun coming your way.  For those of you who may remember, last year around this time Kyle took a sabbatical to attend bass camp, which gathers bassists far and wide and helps them deal with…. well, to be honest being bassists.  On a typical day at bass camp, campers are encouraged to make the transformation from drooling cave creature to fully formed musician, learn comeback quips to those witty bassist jokes, attend seminars on how to get rid of that dreadful bass face (see photo) and perform skits for one another. Kyle will not be able to attend this summer due to Heaviside’s several commitments, the first of which will be in a mere week at the Starlite Room on Saturday July 14th.  We’re aiming to make this one special for you guys since it will be our first back in Edmonton since the fabled CD release (again, for those who missed it, it was truly legendary).   There are still some tickets available so get in touch with your favourite band member or contact us via www.heaviside.ca or on facebook and we will get you hooked up.  We’ve even got a little southern surprise for you guys at this one….

Next up we will be performing at the Alberta’s Own Independent music festival, which will also play host this year to Big Wreck and George Canyon.  Heaviside is slated to perform on the afternoon of Saturday August 25th.  If you want to hit this up (and I’m sure you do) tickets can be purchased online here http://www.abown.com/#!vstc4=tickets.  Every year this festival gathers Alberta’s Premier talents and throws them on stage over the course of a weekend, so ladies and gentlemen please come see the local talent our wonderful province has to offer.

Lastly, there has been talk of a video surfacing in the near future.  What kind of video you ask?  A video blog with exciting new news?  A re-cap of Heaviside’s gut busting CD launch party?  A music video?  A documentary?  A video of Kyle’s skit from bass camp 2011?  Stay tuned Rock Fans and we’ll keep you in the loop.  For now have a great summer, we wish you lots of cold beer in the shade whilst pissing off your neighbours by blaring your favourite Heaviside tunes.

Cheers,

Heaviside
